Blogging?

Well everybody else is doing this whole 'blogging' thing so I thought I would jump in on it since my life is so incredibly exciting and I'm sure you are all dying to hear about it!

I was in the proccess of sending an email to some folks today to show them the latest pictures of the construction when I decided this would be easier.

Today the first column for the shear wall (the massive curved wall in the back of the auditorium) went up, which was pretty dang exciting! It is about 84' tall and weighs 45 tons...yes, that is 90,000 pounds. There are 22 more of these that will go up in the next 2-3 weeks! Obviously, the crane that they are using to put them up is massive as well, it is the biggest one the company makes. There has been a 'small' crane up here for about a year that lifts 20 tons...the big crane lifts 300 tons. There will even be a bigger crane coming in a few weeks!!!!

It was a gloomy day up here today so the pictures didn't turn out well, but this is the column on the truck. You can see the little 20 ton crane on the left and the huge 300 ton crane on the right!

Here's the column hanging in the air.

Here it is in place. Its so big you can't see the top or bottom of it!

The Manwaring Center is really coming along now! The bookstore is almost completly framed!!! It is a massive bookstore! It'll be so much better than the one they have now!

This is the north side of the Manwaring addition. The new bookstore will occupy the entire bottom floor of this addition! They were laying brick about 2 weeks ago and Jackson was out walking the site with one of the superintendents and realized there was no building wrap (that blue stuff on the building) on any of the building, so they had to rip all the brick out that they had already done...fortunetly Jackson caught it early and they only lost a few days.

There are just a few pictures of the MC...its hard to get good pictures in there because there is so much going on.

Well, apart from work, all I do is sports...just kidding momma. Classes are pretty good this semester. Statics is my only really hard class. Estimating is kind of tuff, my teacher is working on his dissertation, so he is so busy with that he is super dissorganized, so its kind of a joke, which Snoop can attest to, and the rest of my classes are simple!

When I'm not working or studying I play sports!!! I am playing lacrosse, which is in the early stages of becoming a competative sport up here, flag football, softball, and I play GOALIE (so I'm not gay) for 2 soccer teams. Oh, and I play as much golf as possible. My first week up here I played 7 times!!! Also I make sure to set asside plenty of time for the lasies!!!
